1.Retirement: What financial plans have you made for your retirement? Set a date today for you and your partner to go over your retirement aspirations, make a plan, set another date to implement the plan or review the current one, write this on your calendar and stick to it. 2. Credit Cards: How much do you owe? How often do you pay the minimum amount and get clobbered with hefty monthly interest. If you have credit card debt, work out how much you can afford to pay each month, set up a monthly debit and pay money into your credit card account before you can spend it on anything else. You won't be able to save money until you get rid of this debt. 3.The Mortgage If your mortgage payments aren't crippling you financially then you can afford to pay a little extra on your mortgage. Even a small amount saves you thousands (and even tens of thousands) long term. If you are struggling to pay your mortgage - can you get a better deal elsewhere and pay back at least part of the money you save - at least then the money eats away at the capital |
4.Save,
save, save Save for a holiday, save for an emergency fund, save for a rainy day. Put money aside into a savings account as soon as you get paid. Don't wait until the end of the month to see what you have left, chances are there won't be anything. ![]() Takeaways,

Start looking at all the free things you can do in your area that don't involve money. Remember money does not lead to happiness. 7.Plan and Organise So being disorganised and not thinking things through is probably the main reason for your money woes? You pay bills late, don't think before you spend, can't find anything nice to eat in the fride and order take out? There's no excuse not to get organised. Set up automatic payments for bills. Create a money calendar and pin this up somewhere you will see it. (yes I know you now have no space on your kitchen walls with all thus stuff getting pinned up - I use the inside of my kitchen cupboard doors) Know what bills need to be paid when. If you make all your due dates and bad spending habits visible, you will have no excuse for forgetting. Its an easy way to get into the habit of saving. Good luck saving money!
