You shop
when you are hungry. You shop when you are disorganised and don't have
a list, you shop in a hurry? Why not try shopping online? it takes a little time to set up but gets quicker and you won't be tempted down the confectionary isle. If you don't own a pc, make a list and get someone else to shop for you. Swap lists with your friend, shop at the same time in different stores and keep in touch by phone so you can add last minute items as you see them. Make a pact not to buy anything that will throw you off your diet. Diet mistake 2 Buying for others You buy treats for the kids saying its not fair to put them on a diet jsut because you are, but then eat some when they've gone to bed? If you are determined to lose wait then the whole family can help. ![]() Post
Gym binge
You go to the gym, go for a jog, walk cycle and then have a snickers bar because you deserve it. You waste an hour of hard work in 5 minutes - is it worth it? Take some fruit and a bottle of water to the gym with you and eat after your workout or lay some out on your kitchen counter for when you get back from that walk. |

mistake 4. Skipping Meals Skipping breakfast or lunch just makes you hungrier later on when you have no time spare to make a proper meal so you end up snacking on fat and calorie laden food. Breakfast is not called the most important meal of the day for nothing. ![]() TV Snacks Its evening, the kids are in bed, the TV is on, the commercials come on and suddenly you are bored so you end up fixing yourself a glass of wine and a bowl of munchies. Sound familiar? Evening snacks are hard to resist - make sure you are doing something else than watching TV or if you can't miss your favourite program, have only healthy snacks in the house. Diet mistake 6. Too busy to diet Maybe you work late, have 3 kids and a husband to think of before yourself. If you are serious about losing weight, make time to get organised. Switch the TV off in the evening and make a diet plan that will work. Get organised down to that last detail and pin your diet plan up in a prominent place. |

mistake 7. Snackaholic You make lunch and dinner and snack on the ingredients as you cook. You hoover up the kids leftover snacks. You unpack the shopping and have to taste a little of all the new treats you bought. You deal yourself smaller meal portions because of the predinner snacking and end up hungrier later on and have to snack again! Sounds like a vicious cycle. Mindless snacking is a nasty destructive habit and needs to be broken. Before you do anything else in your day have a good fibre filled breakfast. Get your day off to a good start and the rest will follow. To beat the snack habit, chew gum, have a stock of sugar free mints handy. Get a bowl or jar label it with your name, place healthy low fat low cal snacks inside and place it in a prominent position in the kitchen. Somewhere that's visible when you feel like snacking. Diet mistake 8. Dieting alone You don't want anyone to know you are on your 50th diet of the year. They've heard it all before and you thought you'd save yourself the embarrasment when you failed. Sounds like you expect a diet failure! Get yourself a diet buddy. Your husband or a friend. Make it somone who is just as motivated as you to lose weight. Buy a joint set of scales and exchange them every week. Keep a joint chart of weight loss. Try doing each others shopping as mentioned before. Be supportive but be competitive! |
